. "THIS THY DAY,"
.
.
(Exodus 12:3 KJ) Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
(Luke 19:42 King James) Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
(Daniel 9:24,25 KJ) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
(25) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

...."this thy day,"
That would be the 173,880th day in (Lk 19:42 KJ), since Nehemiah was sent by the king Artaxerxes, on March 14, 445 b.c., back to Jerusalem (Neh 2:6 KJ) to rebuild the city, i.e., the "from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem" of (Dan 9:25 KJ).
There are 173,880 days from:
(Neh 2:6 KJ) to
"Messiah the Prince", i.e., to
the "this thy day," of (Lk 19:42 KJ)...the day that, for the first time, after shunning any public recognition of Him being Israel's Messiah throughout His 3 year ministry, that the Lord Jesus Christ riding into Jerusalem allowed Himself to publically be proclaimed Israel's King and Lord:
(Luke 19:37,38 KJ) And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
(38) Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
(Below: refers to Dan 9:24-27 KJ)
There are 70 weeks of years given to the Jews and Jerusalem in (Dan 9:24-27 KJ).
69 of those 70 prophetic years of 360 days each, or 483 years,
……(a week = 7 years) of the 70 weeks of years (i.e., 490 years),
……that God gave to the Jews and to Jerusalem in (Dan 9:24-27 KJ), has exactly, to the day, transpired on the "this thy day" of (Lk 19:42 KJ).
.
.
.
God sent Gabriel to Daniel in Babylon, to give Daniel the prophecy of the 490 years (i.e., "70 weeks" of years).
(Daniel 9:24, 25 KJ) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
(25) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
...."that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:"
7 and threescore and 2 weeks = 69 weeks of years (Dan 9:25 KJ).
This = 483 years of the 490 years of (Dan 9:24 KJ).
On the very day, the "this thy day" that 69 of 70 weeks of years expired, the Lord came into Jerusalem on the foal:
(Zechariah 9:9 KJ) Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

The Messiah had to come, according to the Scriptures, exactly when Jesus Christ came.
The "this thy day" was Sunday, Nisan 10th (April). The Lord Jesus Christ came riding into Jerusalem on that day. Four days later on Thursday, Nisan (April) 14th, the Messiah Jesus Christ was "cut off"...i.e., crucified.
Some 1,400 years earlier this was foreshadowed in the Exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt. God says to Moses:
(Exodus 12:3 KJ) Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
In the "tenth" day...they were to take a lamb. It couldn't be just any lamb, or just any day on the calendar.
(Exodus 12:5 KJ) Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
The lamb had to be:
"without blemish"
Then, on the 14th, the Hebrews were to slay the lamb and put its blood on the top and sides of the door where they dwelt:
(Exodus 12:6 KJ) And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
......"the fourteenth day"
Some 1,400 years later, on the "10th", who comes riding on the foal into Jerusalem to be betrayed and crucified?
The
Unblemished
Lamb
And 4 days later the Lamb of God is crucified. And the Son of God rose three days later from the dead.
But the Lamb of God was rejected the very night before Passover as the Israelites ate the Passover lamb. The Lamb they ate was a type of identification; the eating of the lamb was to show forth their identification with the Lamb of God's life being their life....their eternal life.
But, as they ate the lamb that night, the lamb that pointed to their Messiah, THE LAMB of God was being betrayed.
The Lord Jesus said,
(John 6:53-56 KJ) Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
(54) Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
(55) For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
(56) He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
(Job 34:3 KJ) For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
We, in the "Body of Christ," the grace church of today (Eph 1:22,23 KJ), are also to be entirely identified with Christ Jesus:
(Ephesians 5:30 KJ) For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
We are baptized "into" the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, immediately upon believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord:
(1 Corinthians 12:13 KJ) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
The "this thy day" for Israel, was the 10th of Nisan. But they did not recognize the significance of that very day:
THE TIME
OF
THEIR
VISITATION
(Luke 19:43,44 KJ) For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
(44) And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
The next day of visitation is near....very, very near. The "little flock" of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the believing remnant in Jesus Christ, will be given the kingdom:
(Luke 12:32 KJ) Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
