This damnable heresy started back when Origen (A. D. 185-254) “reduced the allegorical method of interpretation to a system,” which was particular to the area of prophecy, that was “adopted throughout the church, and prevailed throughout the middle ages” (A.H. Newman).
To understand Scripturally why God created the nation of Israel, her purpose and length of existence etc., one must understand WHO has ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and in earth.
Truly, the Word of God, first word to the last word, is about who has authority over all and who does not. And the Scriptures, first Word to the last, declare the One with all authority over all to be God. What God says is the way it is and the way it shall be.
To correctly understand the Scriptures one must understand the Covenants that God made with Israel. God made Unconditional covenants with Israel. That is, the eternal aspect and longevity of the covenant was not and would never be dependant on the ‘obedience’ to those covenants, by Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, his 12 sons (12 tribes), or their descendants.
The first covenant that God made with Israel was with the Father of Israel, Abram. This covenant is found in:
(Gen 12:1-3 King James) Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: (2) And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: (3) And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Notice those things that God says that He is going to do for Abram:
unto a land that I will shew thee
I will make of thee a great nation,
I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
The only thing ‘conditional’ about this covenant that God is making with Abram is that Abram must leave his country, kindred and father’s house and go to the land that God is going to show him. Abram leaves his country and comes to the land of Canaan (i.e., Israel) in (Gen 12:6 KJ). Notice the next thing that God says that He will do for Abram:
(Genesis 12:7 KJ) And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
God is stating what He is going to do for Abram…..give Abrams seed the land of Israel. And that is exactly what God did. The subsequent covenants that God made and will make are:
Land - Deut 29,30
Davidic - 2 Sam 7:5f.f.
New - Jery 31:31f.f ; Heb 8: 6f.f.
Eternal - Isa 55:3; Ezek 16:60; Rev 14:6
God made promises to Israel in these covenants, and all are ‘unconditional,’ except for the Mosaic Cov., the covenant of the Law that God made with Moses; the Mosaic Covenant is an “if” and “then” Covenant. That is, if Israel will obey God's commandments and statutes then God will perform His kindnesses and blessings to Israel, but if not, then God will discipline Israel for her disobedience.
The “Land” Cov., which is directed at those descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who were (Deut 29,30 KJ) about to go into the land of Canaan (Israel), after their 40 long years in the wilderness,… the “Land” Cov., also being referred to as the “Palestinian” Cov. by some, does have a few “if”’s as well.
However, the “if” in (Deut 30:2 KJ) shows something very important and overlooked or disregarded, by those who say that the church is Israel today, i.e., that God is thru with Israel because of their crucifixion of their Messiah Jesus Christ.
In this chapter, God foretells Israel's coming disobedience to Him, but following that, He ALSO foretells His forgiveness to them and His restoring them back to their land of Israel.
That is, God already knew when He created the nation of Israel (Isaiah 43:15 KJ) through Abraham, that Abraham and his descendants would disobey His commandments and statutes, that they would turn to worshipping false gods (Deut 30:17 KJ), and that they, along with the Gentiles (Acts 4:27 KJ), would crucify His Son Jesus Christ (Psl 22:16; Isa 52:14; 53; Zech 12:10; John 8:28).
God made the covenant on unconditional terms with Abram. In (Gen 15 KJ) God has Abram slay the animals and put their pieces to the side of each other. The parties to this type of agreement/covenant in Abrams’ day were then to hold each other’s hands and walk between those pieces signifying, that if either of the parties broke the conditions of the covenant, they were to become like the dead animals. But something different happened here. God put Abram to sleep and God Himself walked between those pieces:
(Genesis 15:12 KJ) And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
(Genesis 15:17,18 KJ) And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
(18) In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
God knew that Israel would forsake Him. But in the very passages of the Scriptures where Israel was currently in disobedience to Him, God spoke that He would, not only discipline Israel and scatter them outside Israel into the countries of the world, but that He would also restore the believing remnant of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to their land (Ezek 20:33-38 KJ).
And God is clear that it is not because of any merit on Israel's part that God is going to restore them to their land that He gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to possess “forever” (Gen 13:15 KJ)....(i.e , to “occupy” it for ‘eternity,’ for the anti-Zionist numbskulls,….but i digress). People, forever = forever.
(Ezekiel 36:22 KJ) Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
(Ezekiel 36:32 KJ) Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
Note in the passage below how that God first declares the discipline that He will enact upon Israel for despising the oath in breaking the covenant:
(Ezekiel 16:59 KJ) For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
And then see what He says right after that:
(Ezekiel 16:60 KJ) Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.
Questions:
Why, and for how long, is God going to give the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob the land of Israel? Forever.
Is it because Israel deserves it? No.
Is it a temporary covenant between God and Israel? No.
Does the fact that God scattered Israel over the earth for their disobedience, including the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, disqualify the unconditional covenant, whereby God promised them the land for ever? No.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants are going to dwell in their land of Israel for ever. Why? Because God promised them that they would:
God said to Abram:
(Genesis 13:15 KJ) For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
God said to Isaac:
(Genesis 26:3,4 KJ) Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
(4) And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
God said to Jacob:
(Genesis 28:13,14 KJ) And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
(14) And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Did God ‘literally’ mean it in His prophetic foreview of Israel’s history in (Lev 26 KJ), when He said that He would repeatedly “punish” Israel for their disobedience, finally scattering them into other countries and continuously discipline them “seven times more for your sin.” (18, 21, 24, 28 etc.,), for their repeated disobeying of His commandments and statutes? Yes.
How do we know that to be true? Because, that is exactly what happened in history.
And did God also mean it ‘literally’ later in (Lev 26 KJ) when He said:
(Leviticus 26:44 KJ) And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
…Yes, God literally meant that.
God is going to ‘literally’ dwell on planet earth. Moses sang about this after He and Israel left Egypt and….
“saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.”
”they sank as led in the mighty waters.”
“the earth swallowed them.”
( That is, Israel saw the Egyptians’ dead bodies washed up on the shore, but their souls sank down to the bottom of the sea and into an opening into hell there.)
(see: Exod 14:30; 15:10,12 KJ)
Then Moses sang about the place that God would ultimately lead Israel to, which would also be the place that God Himself will dwell:
(Exodus 15:17 KJ) Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
A message to the anti-Zionists, the reCONstructionists, dominionists, preterists and kingdom now heretics:
GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH; ISRAEL WILL BE HIS EARTHLY KINGDOM NATION; AND HIS WILL IS GOING TO BE DONE:
Note below: house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
= ISRAEL AND JUDAH ARE NOT THE CHURCH OF TODAY:
(Jeremiah 31:31 KJ) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
In the Hebrew epistles, i.e., the books of (Hebrews - Revelation), i.e., Israel's instructions for the 7 year tribulation etc., the Holy Spirit repeats that God will make a “New Covenant” with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: (see: Heb 8:6-13 KJ).
God is challenging those (c.f. Rev 2:9; 3:9 KJ) who say they are Israel and are not:
(Jeremiah 31:35 KJ) Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
(36) If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
(37) Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
NOTE LOUDLY:
……”If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord.”
Dominionists, anti-Zionist Saul’s of Tarsus zealots, you literally have to get rid of heaven and earth to stop God from having His eternally located Kingdom in Jerusalem, Israel (Deut 11:21; Mt 6:10; 8:11; 25:31; Lk 12:32; etc.), that God has vested in the believing remnant of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the twelve tribes and their descendants.
Interestingly, but not surprisingly, ‘the church has replaced Israel’ movement, uses this passage below to validate that God is done with Israel, and that the church of today now inherits all of Israel's promises, but, apparently, not all of Israel's curses.
Hmm, interesting…Israel's blessings are literal but not their curses….in the ‘church is Israel’ nonsense of today.
(Romans 2:28,29 KJ) For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
(29) But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
A most interesting and ‘here they go agaaain’ thing happens here. As usual, the context of the passage, i.e., those verses that preceded AND followed those 2 verses, are furtively unobserved.
Starting in verse (17), who does it say that Paul is talking to?
(Romans 2:17 KJ) Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Paul is talking to the Jews
Paul, who earlier (Rom 2:6 f.f. KJ) had been talking about God “Who will render unto every man according to his deeds:” (6)…”to the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;” that “not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” (13)….that those who didn't have the law (Gentiles/Uncircumcision) will be judged without it, i.e., the law (12) and those who had the law (Jews/Circumcision) would be judged by the law (12)…etc., is now talking specifically to the Jews in contrast to the Gentiles.
In (17), Paul is making the case that the Jews are resting in the law for their salvation, that they are not hearing the law condemn them for their breaking of the law. Yes, they may have the law, but they break it. Paul then shows in (25-27) that the Gentiles, though not circumcised, if they keep the law, and none do, that they would be counted as though they were circumcised.
Circumcision was a rite that God gave to Israel (Gen 17 KJ) to distinguish believing Israel from unbelieving Israel, i.e., those descendants of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the twelve tribes, who would inherit the promises as believing ‘individuals,’ from those who were unbelievers and only ‘physical’ seed seed of Abraham.
The ‘physical’ outward circumcision was to show a ‘spiritual’ inward truth, that that child of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was a ‘true’ child of God and of Abraham, by inwardly loving and believing in God,….as Abraham did.
The Lord Jesus in talking to the Jews, says:
(John 8:39 KJ) They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them,
If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
(John 8:42 KJ) Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Thus the issue in (Rom 2 KJ), when comparing the Word of God with the Word of God, as the Holy Ghost does while teaching us (1 Cor 2:13 KJ), is not that a Gentile becomes a Jew because he “inwardly” believes. Why? Because there is neither Jew nor Greek (Gentile) in the mystery/grace church of today where salvation (believing on the Lord Jesus “inwardly") is concerned:
(Galatians 3:28 KJ) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Abraham is the Father of spiritually believing Jews under the Law, and Abraham is also the Father of those of us who have spiritually believed under grace:
(Romans 4:11 KJ) And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
Thus the verse following (Gal 3:28 KJ):
(Galatians 3:29 KJ) And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Therefore, we see Paul starting the discussion with racial “Jews” (Rom 2:17 KJ). And after the 2 verses the reCONstructionists corrupt (Rom 2:28,29; 2 Cor 2:17 KJ), Paul is still talking about racial Jews, i.e., Jews who have racially descended from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the 12 tribes:
(Romans 3:1 KJ) What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
Paul, although the minister to the Gentiles, which effectively is everyone, as there is neither Jew nor Greek where God is concerned today, does discuss the Jews in many places; (Rom 2, 9-11 etc.,) readily come to mind.
In sum:
The “Israel of God” (Gal 6:16 KJ) is not the body of Christ the church of today (Eph 1:22,23 KJ), where there is neither Jew nor Greek today. And be thankful that we are not, because those curses against disobedient Israel are as literal as the blessings are on believing Israel,….another truth the reCONstructionists avoid.
The ‘Israel of God’ were still walking on the earth following the start of the dispensation of Grace. See the Apostles.
(Revelation 22:21 KJ) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
