May all we do and say here on this post and all subsequent ones be to the glory of God. We will study from the Holy Spirit breathed and preserved Word of God, the King James. To God be the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever and ever!!
The very first thing to understand in correctly learning God's Word is that one must be one of God's children to understand it. The popular phrase is not true, that “All people are children of God.” The truth is that we become children of God by placing our faith in God's Son Jesus Christ:
(Galatians 3:26 KJ) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
That is, the “natural man” …i e., one who has 'not' believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, may gather facts etc., about God, but he will not “spiritually” understand them. Why is that? Because one who has only been “physically” born cannot know God “spiritually.” That is, a person's spirit is dead at birth and his nature is sinful and fallen. And apart from it being made alive by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, it can't understand the things of God. In fact, God's Word says that the things of God are “foolishness” to the unbeliever:
(1 Corinthians 2:14 KJ) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
…”natural man” = a person only physically born
…”foolishness unto him” = a person who has not received the Lord Jesus as their saviour, thinks that the “spiritual” things of God are foolishness…a waste of their time etc.
…”neither can he know them” = it is not possible for the unsaved to truly know the things of God, e.g., His Word etc.
“because they are spiritually discerned” = God is a spirit….and they that would know and understand Him must be “able” to commune with God “spiritually”.
(John 4:24 KJ) God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Therefore, the very first thing in understanding God’s Word is that first a person must be born again. God’s way for us to do that in the age of grace that we live in now is to believe the “gospel” (i.e., good news), that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died, was buried and was resurrected from the dead for our justification (see: 1 Cor 15:1-4 KJ). When one simply and honestly believes in Jesus Christ and what He has done on the cross for them, i.e., that he died, was buried and rose again for them, they are immediately saved forever by Him; their spirit is made alive and now they can commune with Him; and now they can also begin to “study” God’s Word (2 Tim 2:15 KJ) and grow in their knowledge and love for Him.
The Lord Jesus Christ is coming any moment now. If you are reading this and you haven’t believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, do it now. Just bow your head and thank the Son and Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, for dying for you, that He was buried and that He rose again 3 days later for you. And you are His forever my brother or sister in Christ.
This leads us to number 2 in approaching God how God says to approach Him. In order to understand God’s Word we first have to actually have God’s Word. God had various authors write His Word. God the Holy Spirit is the part of the Godhead who accomplished this. God said that He would preserve His word for all of us:
(Psalm 12: 6,7 KJ) The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (7) Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
God the Holy Spirit has preserved His Words for all of us. The book that He has His Words in are called the King James. It is not a “version.” We will in the future demonstrate this when we look at books that say the word “bible” on the cover, but that have verses missing and many, many errors within their pages. For now, we will illustrate one example. Look at the very last page of a book that says “bible” on it. In (Rev 22:19), if your book says that God has your name in a “tree of life” …you do not have the Holy Spirit breathed and preserved Word of God. God has the believer’s name in a “book” of life, not a tree. Let this suffice you for now. Get the King James Bible, as it is the Holy Spirit breathed and preserved Word of God.
And number three in approaching God’s Word the way that He says to is to “study” it….and to “rightly divide” it:
(2 Tim 2:15 KJ) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Do you see that word “study” above? Try finding that word in a different “bible”….there may be one other that has that word “study” in it….but i haven’t found it yet. What the so-called “modern versions” of God’s Word actually tell people in that verse is to, “be diligent to present yourself approved unto God”……and according to God’s actual Words in the King James, our efforts won’t get us anywhere with God. In fact, “and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; (Isaiah 64:6 - KJ) before God. That is, the very best that ‘we can do’ is a filthy rag before God.
God actually gives us instructions on how to study His Words. We are to compare spiritual things (God’s Words) with spiritual things (God’s Words)….:
(1 Cor 2:13 KJ) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
So, to recap: In order to approach God in the way that God wants us to we must:
1. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ; that He died, was buried and was resurrected to pay for all of our sins
2. We must have the Holy Spirit breathed and preserved Word of God. God has His Word in the form that He wants it in in every generation. For the past 400 plus years that has been the King James
3. We must “study” the King James Word of God…AND we must “rightly divide” it.
Right division of God’s Word simply means this: When God says that there is something that He requires of us for our obedience to Him at the time we are living, then we accept reverentially His authority over all and do it. For example, Adam and Eve were “freely” (Gen 2:17 KJ) eating of the trees of the garden….eating fruits etc. However, in (Gen 9) God “changed” the food laws and told Noah that he and his family could now eat “every moving thing” (Gen 9:3 KJ). Then, in (Lev 11) God told His people (Israel) through Moses, that there were some foods that He did “not” want them to eat. He did this so that His people the Jews would be seperate from the nations, i.e., the Gentiles. And finally, after all of those changes, God then said this in His Word:
(1 Tim 4:4 KJ) For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
So, thank goodness….we are off the hook….we can, after all, have that catfish now.
Note: God has changed His requirements for man’s obedience to Him at different times in world history. He didn’t do this because He was changing. God never changes. He cast Adam and Eve out of the garden…., not because God changed, but because Adam and Eve changed….from obedience to disobedience.
I will stop here for now on this my first post on this brand new blog as of today. We will look forward to writing more as i learn more about how things work on this sight. Very glad to be here. Thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ for His love and sacrifice of Himself for all of us on the cross…for His resurrection…and for all those spiritual blessings in the heavenlies (Eph 1:3; 2:5 KJ) each new believer instantly has IN HIM.
Till next time,
YBIC
Your Brother In Christ
